National Medicines Verification Organisation in Ukraine to be established
On September 18, 2025, at a meeting of the constituent assembly, a decision was adopted to establish the National Medicines Verification Organisation in Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the Organisation). The founders of the Organisation were professional associations of manufacturers and marketing authorization holders of medicinal products, both domestic and foreign.
This decision can rightly be described as historic for the development of Ukraine's pharmaceutical market, as it marks the launch of a national medicines verification system, with its subsequent full integration into the analogous pan-European framework. This step is crucial for preventing and combating the circulation of counterfeit medicinal products in Ukraine, following the model applied in the EU Member States.
The establishment of the Organisation was supported by the SAFEMed project within the framework of international technical assistance provided by the project in Ukraine, with the direct participation of the project's legal advisors – the LA Law Firm.
The LA lawyers provided comprehensive legal support for the establishment of the Organisation – from participation in the preparation of the regulatory framework (CMU Resolution No. 1121 Some Safety Issues and Verifications of Medicinal Products of September 26, 2024) to legal support during negotiations and the drafting of the Organisation's Charter, in line with the best European practices.
