HTA Forum: Advancing Healthcare for Ukrainian Patients

The 5th Health Technology Assessment Forum, a pivotal annual event, concluded on September 26. Government officials, representatives from specialized state agencies like the HTA Department of the State Expert Centre, National Health Service of Ukraine, industry stakeholders, patient associations, healthcare professionals, and international experts from the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and Argentina gathered to explore the critical role of HTA in facilitating access to health technologies and improving healthcare decision-making.

Dmytro Aleshko, managing partner at LA Law Firm, participated in three panel discussions, sharing his expertise on the legal framework for HTA development, the establishment of an Independent HTA Agency, and the effectiveness of HTA implementation for medical devices in Ukraine. "Ukraine has made remarkable strides in HTA implementation in a relatively short period, considering that it took other European countries over a decade to achieve similar progress" commented Dmytro. "However, there's still significant room for improvement to ensure the system aligns perfectly with the needs of Ukrainian patients."

The event, supported by the SAFEMed project, served as a dynamic international platform for identifying challenges and charting the future of health technology assessment in Ukraine. By fostering dialogue and knowledge sharing, the forum contributed to advancing healthcare outcomes and improving patient care.
