Do Ukrainians need Western Education

While on the subject of the necessity of foreign education's availability, it is significant to mention a putting emphasis on this question both from the direction of lawyers and their employers.

As I see it, the given point of view is determined not only by prestigiousness of possession of a foreign diploma or certificate of degree, but also by an ability of getting and increasing of practical skills, that helps specialists to be more "technically" prepared for the cooperation both with domestic and foreign counteragents.

As is easy to see, at present "the scale" is trending away from getting of domestic academic degree in the direction of getting of the foreign education by particularized training programs after graduation of Ukrainian universities and institutes.

Although legal profession is close attached to the particular country, to the peculiarity of its legal system and legislation, many lawyers study different foreign master's programs after they have graduated domestic educational institutions. An internationally-recognized postgraduate law degree "Master of Laws" (LL.M.) is much in demand at present. The probations in top-level legal firms and companies are also common practice.

The hiring of such employee will guarantee to the employer the presence in staff of a high-qualified specialist, who will be able to communicate with foreign clients, partners or counteragents so to speak "at grade", i.e. not only to negotiate or to draw up deeds competently, but also to understand the other party's legal position, to compromise in interference situations, that often arise at the turn of legal systems.

Our Company often confronts with difficulties of misunderstanding of Ukrainian legislative and law-enforcement practice by foreign clients. It is because that everything is otherwise in their practice of law. That is why the attainments of foreign legal systems, legal regulations and practical aspects may be useful in such situations in order to reach mutual understanding between all participants.
