Legal Alliance Senior Partner Ilya Kostin Elected to Ukrainian Bar Association Board

The end-of-term sitting of the Legal Assembly under the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) took place during the Fifth Legal Forum "Law Services Market Development in Ukraine 2009" that ran in Lviv on 12 June 2009. 

Apart from previous year's UBA management reports approval and other matters within the competence of the Assembly the sitting agenda included election new Association executives: President, Vice President, and the Board.

Mr Sergei Konnov, senior partner of Konnov and Sozanovsky, and Mr Maksim Lavrinovich, managing partner of Lavrinovich & Partners, were elected President and Vice President of the Association, respectively.

By the results of the ballot, the following persons were named Association 2009 — 2010 Board members: Mr Ilya Kostin, senior partner of Legal Alliance; Mr Oleg Makarov, managing partner of Vasyl Kysil & Partners; Mr Aleksei Reznikov, partner of Magisters; Mr Denis Bugai, managing partner of Vashchenko, Bugai & Partners; Mr Valentin Zagaria, managing partner of Spencer & Kauffmann; Mr Nikolai Ochkolda, managing partner of Legitimus, and Mr Sergei Tiurin, partner of Sergei Tiurin & Partners.

Sitting on the Board on behalf of Association sections will be Mr Aleksei Ivanov, partner of KM Partners; Ms Elena Kibenko, senior partner of Inyurpolis; Mr Aleksei Muraviov, judge of the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine; Mr Yuri Vakhel, legal director of Noble Group, and Mr Vladimir Marchenko, notary private.

Prior to election to the Board Ilya Kostin vastly contributed to the Association activity, in the past two years as a board member of its Kiev branch. In 2009, the Board appointed Mr Kostin a coordinator of the UBA Partners' Forum. As a newly elected Board member, Ilya Kostin will replace Legal Alliance senior partner Dmitry Aleshko who remained on UBA Board during 2007 — 2009.
